Thailand Doubles Visa Exemption Period to 60 Days

In a significant move to boost tourism, Thailand has announced an extension of the Visa Exemption period from 30 to 60 days. This change allows visitors entering the country without a visa to stay for up to 60 days at no additional cost. Travellers will still have the option to extend their stay by another 30 days for the usual extension fee of 1,900 THB.

This decision is part of Thailand's strategy to increase revenue from tourism, a sector seen as a quick and effective way to generate financial benefits through administrative adjustments.

For those considering a longer stay, Thailand has introduced the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV). This new visa targets digital nomads, remote workers, athletes, musicians, and medical tourists, among others. While full details are yet to be released, the DTV is expected to offer a 6-month visa, renewable for an additional 6 months, with the possibility of extending up to a maximum of 5 years. The cost for the DTV is anticipated to be 10,000 THB every 180 days.

Stay tuned for more updates as Thailand continues to make strides in welcoming international visitors and supporting its tourism industry.
