Most visitors to Hua Hin (like other places in Thailand) find it easiest to rent a motorbike to get around. It is by far the most convenient but anyone who has read the internet forums will know it is not without it's risks. Especially for those without a motorbike licence back home!
Pattaya has its famous "Baht Buses", where you pay 15 baht to go a certain distance, the place is so busy and the buses so popular that you never need wait more than a minute or two to jump aboard one.
Many people don't realise that Hua Hin has a similar service called Songtaew bus. They are not quite as ubiquitous, mainly because the demand is not the same, but they run every 15 minutes and can take you all the way from Khao Takiab down the main road, past Bluport and Market Village, to the main Night Market and (for an extra 15 thb) all they way to the airport!
See the pictures here to know what to look out for (they are not really buses 😀), just stand on the side of the road and stick your hand out and they'll pull over. Ring the bell whenever you want to get off.
There are only two fares. 15 THB from Khao Takiab to the Night Market and 15 THB from the Night Market to the Airport. So, you could travel from Khao Takiab to Hua Hin airport for only 30 THB per person!
